Custom Canvas Art

My husband is a HUGE Dallas Cowboys fan. So for his birthday, I wanted to get him tings to "pimp" his man cave. We have several large, nekked walls down  there, just begging to be decorated! Once I started brainstorming, the best option I could think of was a fun wall grouping. I wanted to get him a large canvas of the new Cowboys Stadium. I started scouring the net, and for 8x10's alone, the prices were in the 100's!!! And I wanted bigger than 8x10. Then, I got a brilliant idea!

I went to AC Moore and got a 16x20 canvas. With a coupon, it was $7! Then I scoured the web and found a free downloadable photo of cowboys stadium. I was fully prepared to pay the $15 or so for the print, and then I found a coupon for a free 16x20 poster at WalMart! The very day I needed one. Talk about dumb luck!

So I picked up my poster and here is what I got!
I was really happy with the quality of the print! It is not thin poster paper like I was expecting, but was nice heavy matte photo paper. So I busted on the Mod Podge and covered the canvas with it.
And then I carefully lined up the print to the canvas and pressed it down. I used a credit card to smooth out the air bubbles and voila!
I was originally going to paint the edges, but I think I like them white! So I am leaving them! I also got a set of shadow boxes and a plague with game used turf from Texas Stadium. We hung them in a grouping last night and I love it! I will have to share a picture with you guys!

I would definitely recommend this project to anyone! I may do it with a photo of us at some point, if I get one that is the quality that I want. It is such an affordable (even if you pay for the print) alternative to purchasing a canvas!
